300 guests and celebs pay tribute to Shunji Matsuo at memorial service

Around 300 guests attended celebrity hairstylist Shunji Matsuo's memorial service held at The Star Gallery at The Star Performing Arts Centre.on Wednesday (Dec 6).

The Japanese crimper died on Oct 9 after battling pancreatic cancer.

Among the guests who attended the service were celebrities like Elvin Ng, Romeo Tan and Jade Seah. Local singer Tay Kewei, who had a close working relationship with Matsuo, sang The Moon Represents My Heart at the memorial.

In addition to musical tributes, seven senior models in Makeover Magic - his passion project which gives free makeovers to cancer survivors and the elderly - was honoured, with a parade of gowns and headdresses as each model placed a flower in front of his portrait.

Matsuo had planned his own memorial, approved the programme, chose the photos to be displayed and selected the music.
