News platform AsiaOne yesterday won an international award for a mobile application launched only five months ago.
Called the AsiaOne iPad app, it was the only Singaporean and Asian entry to clinch the top award at The Communicator Awards under the Mobile Apps - News category. For winning the Award of Excellence - the highest honour given - AsiaOne was given the Gold Communicator statuette.
Now into its 20th year, The Communicator Awards recognise organisations for their ideas in marketing and communications.
The AsiaOne iPad app offers users a consolidation of breaking news updates, commentaries and travel, nutritional and fitness articles.
It gets its content from Singapore Press Holdings publications, including The Straits Times, The New Paper and herworldPLUS, the online version of magazine Her World.
Users can create a favourites list from the 15 sections, from Singapore to Crime or Motoring. This gives them quicker access to related articles.
Said AsiaOne editor Adrian Tay: "It's very heartening that the team's hard work and effort is recognised at an international level. This means the AsiaOne team has what it takes to compete at a global level."
