SHAH ALAM - Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim is likely to have an audience with Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah over the latest development in Selangor on Monday.

A palace source said it was unlikely Sultan Sharafuddin would meet Khalid immediately upon his return from Budapest, Hungary, on Sunday.

"But we cannot say for sure as Tuanku may decide to meet Khalid upon his return," said the source.

The embattled mentri besar has declined to speak with the media, as instructed by the Sultan, before the Ruler returns.

His aides were also keeping mum on the pending meeting.

In another development, a Pakatan Rakyat assemblyman said DAP, PKR and PAS were preparing themselves to face four different possibilities that may arise after Khalid's meeting with the Sultan.

"The Sultan may advise Khalid to resign as he has lost majority support or he may consent to the state legislative assembly's dissolution, which will lead to snap elections," said the assemblyman.

He said Pakatan was hoping there would not be snap elections as the outcome might not be favourable to them.

"But going by Khalid's stance and the things he is doing, we strongly believe he wants a snap election," said the assemblyman.

He added that Pakatan was also anticipating the possibility that PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail would be rejected as Khalid's successor.

"We are also discussing the possibility that even PKR deputy president Azmin Ali's name would be turned down," said the assemblyman.

He said several people in the know had hinted that a third name would be proposed to take over from Khalid.

The name mentioned was the unassuming and low-profile Ijok assemblyman Dr Idris Ahmad, said the assemblyman.

Dr Idris' name had been tossed around from the time preparations were being made to eject Khalid from the mentri besar's position.

The rumour grew stronger after Khalid was sacked from PKR early this month for refusing to resign and make way for Dr Wan Azizah.

Dr Idris declined to speak with the press when met at his clinic in Taman Tun Dr Ismail recently.
