Microsoft Sculpt Ergonomic Desktop
Whatever misgivings one may have about the Windows operating system, Microsoft does make good hardware, especially peripherals like the keyboard and mouse.
Its latest, the Sculpt Ergonomic Desktop, comprises a split keyboard design which helps users position wrists and forearms in a relaxed way, a cushioned palm rest to provide wrist support and a dome-shaped keyboard to reduce wrist pronation.
The number pad is separate and can be put out of the way when not in use. And there is a uniquely shaped ergonomic mouse to minimise hand strain.
The mouse has a button for one-touch access to the Windows 8 start screen, back button for quick navigation, a four-way scroll wheel for horizontal and vertical scrolling and a thumb scoop to help maintain the correct ergonomic posture.
Much thought has gone into the design of this ergonomic desktop and it is a credit to Microsoft for designing hardware to suit people's needs. It should do likewise for its software.
