LG's 'self-healing' curved smartphone arrives here on Dec 21

SINGAPORE - LG announced Tuesday the availability of the G Flex smartphone in Singapore.

The Android smartphone will be available for pre-order through selected mobile operators on December 8, at a recommended retail price of $1,088. On top of the smartphone, pre-order customers will receive an LG Vest Cover and an LG Tone+ Bluetooth headset.

The G Flex will be available at all three telcos and authorised retailers from December 21.

The 177g device comes with a 6-inch Plastic OLED (POLED) display, the largest to be developed and mass-produced for smartphones.

It is vertically curved to follow the contour of the face, a design that reduces the distance between the user's mouth and the microphone when the device is held against the ear.

It also has a 'self-healing' coating on the back cover that enables it to recover from minor scratches.

Buttons are found on the back of the device, an arrangement first seen on LG's G2 smartphone.

The G Flex measures 160.5 x 81.6 x 8.7mm and is equipped with a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 2.1-megapixel front camera.
