MH17: Malaysian Christians to observe a half-day fast

PETALING JAYA - The national day of mourning will see Christians across the nation maintaining a half-day fast in honour of the victims of MH17, said Council of Churches of Malaysia (CCM) general secretary Rev Dr Hermen Shastri.

"The chapel in the CCM headquarters has maintained a constant vigil throughout this tragedy, with a candle lit at all times," he said, adding that people are invited to come and say personal prayers at the chapel.

Churches across the nation, he said, would be observing special prayers throughout the day.

Malaysian Consultative Council of Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Sikhism and Taoism president Jagir Singh said he and other members would be at the airport today when the remains arrive.
