Microsoft bashes Apple, Samsung in new Surface ads

It's fun seeing brands pit their products against each other in advertisements and Microsoft is fond of doing it recently.

In a span of just two days, Microsoft targeted Apple and Samsung in separate ads by touting the USB and HDMI ports on its Surface 2 tablet as an advantage. In both commercials, Microsoft conveys the point that "projecting your tablet onto a large screen or TV is simple with the HD video out port".

Microsoft also boasts that the full-sized USB port "makes charging your phone, uploading photos and transferring documents fast and easy". You can charge the device (Surface 2) and "get stuff done at the same time" while the other two competing tablets require users to fork out extra cash for accessories to execute similar tasks.

With over 170 million iPads sold to date and reports of the iPad Air "having a remarkable opening weekend", it makes one wonder whether consumers do really care whether there is a USB port on their tablets.
