SingTel fire: Small number of fibre connections still affected

SINGAPORE - All ADSL services (copper-based Internet, mio TV and voice services) have been restored following a fire at the SingTel Bukit Panjang Exchange on Wednesday which caused an island-wide service disruption.

However, there are a small number of fibre cables that require further rectification work, said SingTel in a statement on Saturday.

As such, some fibre customers may still be experiencing service performance issues or difficulties connecting to the Internet.

Earlier, citizen journalism website Stomp received reports that SingTel's broadband and mio TV services were still down for some users.

The telco said that it is dispatching mobile broadband dongles to customers who solely subscribe to its fibre broadband services.

For fibre-based mio TV, mio Voice and Internet customers, ADSL broadband will be installed at their homes.

To expedite the process, SingTel is requesting that affected customers contact them at recovery@singtel.com with their contact details and account numbers.
