StarHub launches data roaming plan onboard selected SIA flights

SINGAPORE - Telco StarHub on Monday announced that it has streamlined its post-paid daily data roaming services to two key plans - 'DataRoam Daily Unlimited' for unlimited Internet access and 'RoamEasy Daily' for hassle-free surfing on any mobile network.

DataRoam Daily Unlimited is StarHub's first unlimited data plan to be available onboard selected flights operated by Singapore Airlines. StarHub customers have to connect to its roaming partner 'OnAir' while in the plane and costs $25 daily.

Price for the unlimited surfing plan starts from $15/day depending on the country. StarHub currently has preferred roaming partners in 53 other destinations such as Australia, Brazil, India, UK and US. This is a five-fold increase from the 11 countries covered previously.

From tomorrow, StarHub's RoamEasy Daily will be extended to cover 39 destinations such as Brazil, India, Ireland, Italy, and Russia, after an earlier addition of 11 countries in October 2013, at a single rate of $10/50MB daily.

RoamEasy Daily was launched on May 29, 2013 and was only available in 20 countries initially.

Data usage charges will only apply on days when data is used.

According to estimates by European telco O2, 50MB of data is the equivalent of sending 50,000 emails with no attachments, or visiting 500 sites, or watching six YouTube videos that are 4.5 minutes long each.
