A new gadgets show is in town, and is expected to draw about 300,000 visitors to Suntec Singapore this weekend.

Called the Consumer Electronics Exhibition 2013, the four-day show starting tomorrow will be the first event of its kind to be held at the newly reopened venue.

To woo shoppers, some exhibitors are dangling discounts of around 20 per cent, and every $100 spent will earn one chance at a lucky draw offering $40,000 worth of prizes.

Some 250 exhibitors will be setting up shop, offering a range of devices such as phablets, laptops and GPS navigators.

One such device, called the Marbella uNav HD 7 All-In-One HD DVR Navigator, is touted to be the first seven-inch GPS navigator in Singapore that comes with a built-in digital video recorder.

Big names such as Courts, Best Denki and the three local telcos will also be at the event, located on the sixth floor of Suntec's convention and exhibition centre.

Mr Melvin Koh, general manager of show organisers Exhibits Inc, is expecting the new event to be an instant hit.

"We believe that people will be lured to the exhibition to make their year-end purchases, in preparation for the holidays," he said.
