1 FLORAL ARRANGEMENT CLASS

Instead of buying your mum a bouquet of flowers, why not make one with her? Raffles International Floristry Academy is offering special one-on-one Mother's Day floral arrangement classes (below) till next Saturday.

The two-hour lessons are conducted in English or Mandarin and each participant will get to make and take home a bouquet, table arrangement or a coloured sand terrarium.

2 LINE DANCING AT GARDENS BY THE BAY

Kick up your heels and dance with your mother tomorrow night under the pulsing lights of the Supertrees at Gardens by the Bay.

The gardens has organised a special four-hour line dancing event with performances as well as group dancing that anyone can take part in.

There is no registration and no limit to the number of spaces available, so take the whole family along for a hopping good time.

3 PAINT TOGETHER

For the creative mum, a painting session at Arteastiq should do the trick.

The art studio-cum-cafe has put together two Mother's Day packages for the weekend.

The first package has high tea for two and a painting session on canvas tote bag ($98++) or on canvas ($128++) between 11am and 6pm.

Or opt for the second package with a dining option, which includes a soup, an all-day breakfast, desserts, tea and an art jamming session on canvas for two ($158++) between 11am and 10.30pm.

Both packages are three hours long each - pick a slot between the times stated.

4 GO DOG WALKING

Support your mum's love of animals at animal welfare group Save Our Street Dogs' Charity Pack Walk 2014.

The event brings together dog lovers and their furry companions for a mass walk through West Coast Park.

There will also be dog adoption drives, carnival booths, contests and a question-and-answer session with dog trainer Maureen Tay. She will also give a talk on how to walk your dog well on a leash.

Funds raised at the event will help support the group's efforts in rescuing, rehoming and sterilising street dogs.

Those who register will receive an event T-shirt to wear on their walk.

Online registration ends just before midnight tonight, but you can still register on the spot at the walk on the day itself.

5 VISIT THE PERANAKAN MUSEUM

You don't have to be a Peranakan matriarch to appreciate the Peranakan Museum.

Check out its monthly Straits Family Sunday, which happens to fall on Mother's Day. Get a free tour of the museum, dress up in batik or sarong kebaya, enjoy craft activities or simply grab a book and relax in the museum's reading corner.

6 LISTEN TO TERESA TENG, WATCH NAJIP ALI

The Esplanade has put together five free concerts and events for the Mother's Day weekend. The concerts will feature English, Malay and Mandarin favourites. For example, you can enjoy the melodious voice of Filipino singer Earl Lazo at the Esplanade Concourse tonight at 7.15 and 8.15pm.

Or head to the Esplanade Concert Hall for Teresa Teng hits and other evergreen Mandarin songs in the Songs For Mothers With Love concert hosted by getai singer Lee Pei Fen (Sunday, 3pm).

It will be followed by the Mother's Day Concert hosted by Najip Ali (below), where patrons can enjoy a range of Malay music favourites like Ibu and Sayang (Sunday, 5pm) sung by local singers Khadijah Ibrahim and Sezairi.

Seats for concerts held in the Concert Hall will be given on a first-come, first-served basis.

7 STAND-UP PADDLE BOARD YOGA

The Stand Up Paddling School on Tanjong Beach in Sentosa has something for the active mum.

It is offering three yoga sessions on stand-up paddleboards, which are like longer, wider surfboards. Each hour-long class can take seven participants, who will need a good sense of balance as they complete poses on the water.

They should be able to swim and prior yoga experience is recommended.

8 SHAKESPEARE IN THE PARK

Sharing a picnic in the park is a cosy way to spend Mother's Day evening. Take in a play while you are at it to complete the experience.

The theatre group's annual Shakespeare In The Park production is back with The Merchant Of Venice, which features one of the Bard's most memorable villains, the Jewish moneylender Shylock.

The Singapore Repertory Theatre is offering a special Mother's Day package of four picnic tickets plus a Haagen-Dazs ice-cream cake for $150, excluding the Sistic booking fee.

9 PARTY PUNCH WORKSHOP

Mobile bar provider Drinkdings' Mother's Day cocktail-making workshop should appeal to the mum who loves to entertain. The two- hour session will teach participants how to make the perfect bowl of punch.

Drinkdings' bartenders will also give tips on mixing spirits and provide instructions on how to concoct drinks such as cucumber mojito punch. Besides being able to sample their own creations, participants will also take home a punch bowl.

10 MOTHER'S DAY HONG KONG SUPERSTARS CONCERT

If your mum loves Hong Kong dramas, be sure to buy her tickets to tomorrow's Hong Kong Superstars Concert.

The comedy concert features seven Hong Kong A-listers, including Damien Lau, Wayne Lai and Louis Lee.

It will be the first Singapore performance for most of the artistes, who will be singing a mix of modern and classic Cantonese, English and opera songs.

Most of the concert will be in Cantonese and more than 80 per cent of the tickets have been sold so far. Where: Resorts World Convention Centre, Compass Ballroom
