5 anti-ageing products you need to try

Growing up, I got the impression that it is never too early to start using anti-ageing skincare products; however, when I was finally old enough to start tailoring my products according to my skin care needs, I realised that embracing anti-ageing skin care was not that easy.

You encounter an emotional battle within yourself; knowing that you are indeed ageing, but not quite ready to face that fact. Still, aging is inevitable, so whether you're in your twenties (like me), or older, these wrinkle-fighting beauties will go some way towards combating the depredations of nature.

Bliss Micro Magic Microdermabrasion treatment, $72

Dead skin buildup can cause you to look older. So if you're in need of a deeper clean, Bliss' Micro Magic Microdermabrasion treatment is a handy option.

It claims to give your skin a wash so deep, it'll remove dead skin buildup within two washes. According to the brand, the product uses a spa-powered treatment of vitamin E and volcanic pumice to thoroughly remove all traces of gunk stuck in your pores.

If you're worried that your skin wouldn't be able to take the strength of this product, don't worry. Bliss infused this microdermabrator with allantoin and jojoba oil, to calm any signs of redness in your skin. Brighter skin might just be two washes away.

Algenist Retinol Firming & Lifting Serum, $138

When fine lines and wrinkles appear, you can usually rely on retinol to work its magic. A form of vitamin A, retinol is clinically proven to iron out wrinkles and give its user visibly smoother skin. Stronger forms of retinol require a medical prescription, so we're more than happy to settle for an over the counter version.

Algenist claims this serum combines the power of retinol and alguronic acid to promote skin cell regeneration, while smoothing out fine lines and wrinkles. The brand even claims that this serum will give you visible results in 10 days - what more can you ask for, really?

Astalift Perfect UV Protector, $68 (right)

No anti-ageing routine is complete without sun protection. Astalift's Perfect UV protector uses nanotechnology to shrink its skincare ingredients to a minute size. According to the company, this results in deeper and greater penetration of sun protection active ingredients into your skin. The product is also made with light analysing powder and antioxidants that the brand says will infuse your skin with collagen, while giving it a radiant finish.

Jurlique Purely White Skin Brightening Eye Correcting Cream, $74 (centre)

The botanical beauty brand has launched a new whitening eye correcting cream. Jurlique's Purely White Skin Brightening Eye Correcting Cream rides on the brand's VitaBright formula - a combination of plant and fruit extracts that include antioxidants and vitamin C.

The multi-tasking eye cream claims that it will nourish the sensitive areas around your eyes, as well as lighten discolouration, dark eye circles, puffiness, and fine lines. According to the brand, this cream is formulated without parabens and artificial fragrances, and can fight most signs of ageing the natural way.

Origins High Potency Night-A-Mins, $55 (left)

This power packed night cream is designed to eliminate dead skin cells and restore your skin while you sleep. According to Origins, Night-A-Mins has a unique blend of ingredients which include fennel seed and calcium. These two ingredients are said to tighten your skin's appearance, while creating a protective layer to lock in much needed moisture, according to the brand. Origins says this cream uses a time-release system, so the ingredients work overnight to give you younger looking skin in the morning.
