Aya gives birth to baby girl in US

Taiwanese television host Aya, 35, has given birth to a baby girl in the United States.

She made the announcement on Weibo on Tuesday, accompanied by a photo of herself cradling her baby, named Ava.

In her post, she added: "Our beloved baby Ava is born! Did you guess correctly? It's a girl!"

She said she and her husband Tony, 45, a Chinese-American she met in the US in 2006, have no wedding plans as she would like to bask in "simple happiness".

According to reports, Aya met Tony when she studied in the US in 2006.

She thanked her supporters for their well-wishes and said their blessing is the greatest gift.

Said Aya in her message: "Your blessing is the best present! We also wish all babies in the world are healthy and full of happiness!

"I have to prepare for my confinement. Haha! Sending our love to everybody."

Her celebrity pals Barbie Hsu, Christine Fan, Rainie Yang and Gigi Leung also sent the new mum their well-wishes via Weibo.

Hsu herself, who gave birth to a daughter in May, has been active on social media posting photos of her baby girl Wang Xiyue, much to the delight of her fans.
