United States - The Smurfs 2 premieres had me feeling all kinds of blue.
Did almost everyone involved in the animated sequel lose their imagination?
And I'm not just talking about the screenwriters.
The female cast members decided to do the obvious by turning up in various versions of the little blue dress, as if trying to pull off their best Smurfette impression.
Let's just say the results were cartoonish, all right.
1) Katy Perry's grandma Ann Hudson, whom the 28-year-old US pop star brought along as her date, was the best dressed in Los Angeles.
Sporting an adorable printed T-shirt - bearing the slogan "I've got the hots for Papa Smurf" - and blinged-out walking cane, she totally overshadowed Perry, who reprises her role as the voice of Smurfette.
Perry's matronly cobalt blue Tadashi Shoji sleeveless frock, featuring beaded floral applique mesh bodice and flared leather skirt, was dull by Katy Perry standards, and those matchy-matchy Pedro Garcia pumps with black trim were simply too twee.
