Hot mum gets flamed as 'fat shaming bully'

She is a fitness fanatic, mother-of-three and has a bod to match.

When Ms Maria Kang, 32, from Los Angeles posted a photo of herself in a sports bra and matching micro workout shorts with her three sons, captioned "What's Your Excuse?" on her Facebook page, social media uproar ensued.

While many of the 17,000-plus comments cite her as an "inspiration", some have accused her of being "insulting", "obnoxious" and a "fat shaming bully", Mail Online reported.

A mother-of-two named Sarah wrote on Ms Kang's website, mariakang.com: "I hope you realise why some people are not just offended, but also hurt by your post as well... I have two kids and both have caused my skin to stretch so bad.

No surgery

"People like you who post pictures like this make people like me cry because I know that without surgery to lose the extra skin I will never look like you. So what's my excuse? I do not have the same great genetics you do."

Ms Kang said she did not intend to upset people and she hoped the photo would inspire others to feel better about themselves. "It's a natural response. I'm used to it," Ms Kang told GoodMorningAmerica.com yesterday.

Usually one to "avoid any backlash", she chose not to retaliate or respond to the negativity until she received a personal, extremely hurtful e-mail.

She recalled: "It said I should be ashamed of myself and that I should take down my Facebook profile picture. It said I'm a shame to women. It was deep and hurtful."

According to Yahoo, the picture has received over 16 million views on Facebook.
