Mention Victoria Beckham and many fashionable things come to mind: high heels, Hermes Birkin bags and of course, sunglasses.
The former Spice Girl is not only a fan of sunglasses, but also wants to become a creator of and trendsetter for eyewear.
The 39-year-old British designer spoke to China Daily about why her eyewear designs are a good fit for all occasions.
Why design sunglasses?
I had thought of sunglasses and handbags. Both of them are doing quite well in the market.
(Sunglasses) are what I wear every day (as) I don't wear a huge amount of jewellery. So I designed them.
What's your design concept?
I have these aviators and I wear everything with them. They look good when I'm dressed casually, and when I'm dressed up. That (versatility) is very important for sunglasses.
Your eyewear designs are not exaggerated. Can you tell us more about that approach?
I read all about glasses, and it's always about the fashion (aspect).
I like everything to be timeless, sophisticated, chic and flattering. All my glasses' designs are very subtle and handmade in Italy.
What do you enjoy about fashion?
I love to do in-store events around the world, and getting along with customers. I try to dress up my customers and get feedback from them.
Each season, I read tweets from my customers, to see what they really want and I read feedback from my Asian market.
Fashion has always been my passion. That's what I always wanted to do. I do it because I love women. I want to empower women. I want them to feel good about themselves, to be confident.
What's your view on the Chinese fashion market?
I don't know enough about the market in China. I know it's a very important market.
(Husband and former footballer) David is now an ambassador of Chinese football and, as a family, China is very important to us and we come back (to China) a lot.
My clothes are selling well here.
Women here really understand fashion. They are beautiful, they appreciate fashion and they love it as much as I do.
