Liu Lingling: I won't hide my son

Getai star Liu Lingling said she held a low-key full month celebration for her son recently.

According to Shin Min Daily News, the 50-year-old performer only celebrated with a dinner at home for family and close relatives. No friends were invited.

The veteran getai artiste gave birth to her first child on Sep 25.

However, Liu has no intention of shielding her son from the public eye.

"I will not do things like hide his face in public, I don't want to stress him," said Liu.

She maintained that her son should not lose the chance to lead a normal life because of who she is.

"Since I have decided to have him, I must face up to the challenges. I will not want him to hide his whole life."

Liu also revealed that her son, named Xiang Xiang, is a cheerful baby who loves to laugh.

"He laughs at least 10 times a day, he must have gotten that trait from me," said Liu.

The noticeably slimmer star was speaking to reporters at the commencement ceremony for her upcoming movie, Filial Party.

Liu, known for her roly-poly image, said she lost 10kg after her son's birth.

She now weighs 73kg now, but hopes to reach her ideal weight of 84kg.

Ever the comedian, Liu joked: "People are used to seeing my round figure, if I'm skinny, what if people mistake me for Fann Wong?"
