Ninja Girl seeks Mr Right

Ninja Girl seeks Mr Right

SINGAPORE - She is a single and attractive Japanese woman looking for love in Singapore.

Frustrated with her dating life, the 29-year-old, who is known only as Miss Ran, has taken her quest for love online.

In a video titled "29 year old Japanese girl looking for her Mr Right", Miss Ran talks about herself and her hope of meeting someone in Singapore whom she can fall in love with.

The video has garnered more than 27,000 views as of yesterday since it was uploaded last Monday.

Miss Ran has received hundreds of e-mail messages in response to her video.

"I never expected such warm responses to the video. Some of them are encouraging ones, saying that I am very brave for doing this and hoping I will be able to find my Mr Right soon," said Miss Ran, who has been living in Singapore for the past three years.

"These responses made me love Singapore even more!"

Miss Ran is a member of the Ninja Girls, a group of four Japanese women documenting their lives in Singapore on their blog and YouTube page.

She declined to give her full name and occupation as she wants to separate her "Ninja Girl" identity from her private life.

The four bloggers have amassed more than 12,700 likes on their Facebook fan page and about 1,100 subscribers on their YouTube channel.

They also won the Best V-log Award at this year's Singapore Blog Awards.

Miss Ran told The New Paper that since she started dating here, most men assume that she is a vulnerable and quiet Japanese woman but she feels she is quite the contrary.

"I am always misunderstood by guys and they often end up talking more about themselves," she said.

Indeed, some of her previous dates turned out to be quite disastrous.

She recounted: "There was a time when I went out with a Singaporean man and he was complaining non-stop about everything for three hours.

"He didn't let me say a word, so I had to listen to his story until the end of the night. My neck was very tired because of the nodding and I had neck pain the next day!"

Hailing from the Japanese prefecture of Chiba, Miss Ran said she is very independent and adventurous, and likes to go on holiday alone.

After two serious relationships in Japan and countless dates, Miss Ran began to grow anxious that she might never find her soulmate.

That was when the idea of posting a video on the Ninja Girls' YouTube channel calling out for Mr Right struck her.

In the 2½-minute-long video, she talks about her love for pole dancing and travelling, and says that she is looking for a man who is "mature, independent" and "preferably has overseas experience".

"As long as they understand me, I don't mind dating them! They can be from any race, any nationality and any religion," she says.
