Who's on top? And who's a flop? Our headmistress of haute couture JEANMARIE TAN grades the best- and worst-dressed celebrities of the week.

PASS

LESLIE MANN

The Other Woman premiere in Los Angeles

Dress: Monique Lhuillier

Shoes: Oscar Tiye

It's another week of slim pickings, so the US actress rises to the top by default. Then again, you can't really go wrong with this on-trend colour-blocking combination of pink bandeau top and flowing orange skirt. At least it's an instant pick-me-up for the eyes.

EMMA ROBERTS

Palo Alto premiere in New York City

Dress and clutch: Balenciaga

Shoes: Christian Louboutin

Sure, it's a basic LBD at first glance, but I like the mix of velvet and mesh panels, and how polished and put-together the US starlet looks from head to toe.

B

LEIGHTON MEESTER

Life Partners premiere in New York City

Dress, clutch and shoes: Emporio Armani

So glad to see the Gossip Girl star back on the red carpet, looking fresh-faced and effortlessly chic in a two-toned metallic blue drop-waist shift dress that boasts an interesting design element in its swooping draped hemline.

EMMA STONE

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 premiere in New York City

Gown: Prada

I've nothing against sartorial simplicity, which this charming ivory creation punched up by sparkly back trim embodies. But I do have a major beef with follicular follies, and unfortunately, the US actress is sporting a huge one here.

ZHANG ZIYI

Beijing International Film Festival in Beijing

Jumpsuit: Elie Saab

Clutch: Jimmy Choo

We rarely see the Chinese actress in a onepiece, and this could be the reason why. There's something about the embellished long-sleeve bodice and the weird fit that makes her look stuck in the 90s. Those glittery silver stripper platform heels don't help either. Stick to the ballgowns.

BARELY PASS

RUMER WILLIS

ELLE's Annual Women In Music Concert Celebration in Los Angeles

Top and skirt: Franziska Fox

Clutch: Vince Camuto

Shoes: Sigerson Morrison

Can't a whole month pass without us getting flashed by some desperado?

This time, the dishonour goes to the increasingly attention-seeking daughter of Hollywood stars Demi Moore and Bruce Willis. The US actress-DJ sported a trashy black skirt with holes so massive, it looked like it was eaten by giant mutant moths.

D

JENNIFER HUDSON

Brown Shoe Company Celebrates 100 Years on New York Stock Exchange event in New York City

Dress: Agent Provocateur

Boots: Via Spiga

The more weight the US actress-singer loses, the more her taste level seems to go too. This tacky S&M-inspired laceup outfit belongs on a mannequin in a sex shop, not on an Academy Award winner. In the meantime, our dominatrix wannabe deserves a good whipping for subjecting our eyes to this.

D

MISCHA BARTON

BritWeek Launch Party in Los Angeles

Gown: Teca by Helo Rocha

This is just wrong on so many levels. And judging from the former The O.C. babe's expression, she knows it. The poorlyexecuted nude illusion mesh panel sits so badly on her chest that it takes away any sex appeal it was supposed to inject into what's essentially an oversized, dowdy and drab black chiffon printed muumuu.

FAIL

ZOSIA MAMET

Farmland screening in New York City

Pants: Rebecca Minkoff

The dire week of fashion disasters ends on a low with the indie hipster US actress' hobo-esque, too-coolto-care ensemble that's so tragic, I don't know where to start.

Why is it that almost the entire cast of TV series Girls - yes, I'm looking at you, Lena Dunham - just can't get their act together?
