Ms Gidania Wong
29, public relations practitioner with PR firm The Media Ministry
She hated her name as a kid.
In primary school, her classmates gave her nicknames like "Gardenia" and "Giordano", and it made her cry.
Every time a new teacher came to her class, she dreaded the moment every pupil's name was read out.
She says: "The teacher would always pronounce my name wrongly and I'd feel embarrassed in front of the whole class.
It's Gi-day-nia, not Gi-dan-nia.
So she would try and "intercept" the teacher, she says.
"Whenever I saw her hesitate or look confused, I'd raise my name and say: 'It's me. I'm Gidania!'."
There were times when Ms Wong ran home crying because of the nicknames she was called at school.
She once complained to her father, Mr Danny Wong, 60, and asked bitterly why he had to give her such an unusual name.
