Clarence Ti, chief of agency under Min of Finance, named as Ngee Ann Poly principal

Mr Clarence Ti Boon Wee, current chief executive of a government agency under the Ministry of Finance, has been named Ngee Ann Polytechnic's new principal with effect from May 1, after its former principal Chia Mia Chiang left to become president of the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts.

Mr Clarence Ti Boon Wee, currently the Chief Executive of VITAL, a department under the Ministry of Finance, will be appointed as the Principal of Ngee Ann Polytechnic (NP), with effect from 1 May 2014.

Mr Tang Kin Fei, Chairman of the Ngee Ann Polytechnic Council, said: "I am very happy to welcome Clarence on board. With his extensive experience, Ngee Ann Polytechnic can look forward to more successful years ahead under his leadership."

Commenting on his appointment, Mr Ti said: "I am very excited to join Ngee Ann Polytechnic and be given the opportunity to serve in the education sector. I look forward to meeting the students and working with my new colleagues to give them the best learning experience."

Mr Ti had served more than 15 years in the public sector, holding positions in the Economic Development Board, Singapore Land Authority and Ministry of Law. Since January 2010, Mr Ti has served as Chief Executive of VITAL, leading 500 officers and directing the shared services centre of the Government, which supports 80,000 civil servants across over 100 Government agencies.

Mr Ti holds a Bachelor of Science degree with High Honours and a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign under an EDB Overseas Scholarship. He also has an MBA with distinction from INSEAD.
