KUALA LUMPUR - A DAYCARE centre operator is being investigated for alleged abuse after the mother of one of the children under the woman's care watched a news report on TV3's Buletin Utama on Friday.
The report was aired on TV3's prime time news programme after a six-minute video clip appeared on social media sites showing the woman slapping, shouting at and beating four children violently and for no reason.
The mother who lodged the report, who wanted to be known only as Munirah, said she realised that the daycare centre highlighted in the video clip was the one in Taman Melati that her child attended.
"Other parents then contacted me to say it was my child in the video," said the 35-year-old.
Munirah said she lodged a report at the Wangsa Maju police station on Saturday and stopped sending her 2-year-old daughter to the centre.
"My daughter would cry every time her father sends her to the centre. I thought she cried because she wanted to follow me to work."
Munirah said her child had swelling on her head.
She said police informed her that the investigation would start today, once they had contacted the Welfare Department.
