SINGAPORE - For Miss Dorothy Goh, 21, pursuing a degree in public relations was definitely an unexpected step for her.
She graduated in 2012 with a diploma in nutrition from Temasek Polytechnic, a completely unrelated field of study.
Miss Goh said: "When I was in polytechnic, I was an ambassador for my school and was part of the public relations team. That was basically how I first gained an interest in public relations."
After graduating from polytechnic, she decided to follow her passion and enrolled at SMF Institute of Higher Learning (SMF Institute), where she is pursuing a Bachelor of Communication, majoring in Public Relations.
The degree is awarded by Murdoch University, Australia. Despite making a subject switch that many would find unsettling, Miss Goh claimed that the foundation modules at SMF Institute helped her to adjust when she enrolled.
She said: "The foundation modules really helped me with adjusting (to my studies), especially as I had no prior experience in this area."
