S Korean university now accepts gamers as student athletes

SOUTH KOREA - South Korea, a country with a robust gaming community, will make a move that all gamers would rejoice - gamers can now enroll in university as student athletes.

According to Gizmodo, Chung-Ang University in South Korea now considers competitive gamers the same as traditional athletes.

What's more, the school is ranked top 10 in South Korea.

The university will begin accepting eSports applicants starting next year, with students matriculating into the school's Department of Sport Science -- previously home to the ball sports you'd generally associate with college athletes.

Now, gamers can tell their parents who nag at them for gaming that they're considered legitimate student athletes.
