Student stabs and kills teacher for confiscating mobile phone

CHINA - A student stabbed and killed his teacher in school, after the teacher confiscated his mobile phone.

The murder occurred on Saturday Sep 14, in Linchuan No. 2 Middle School in Jiangxi province, China.

The victim was a 32-year-old Chemistry teacher who had taught at the school for five years, reported the Shenzhen Daily.

According to the report, the teacher, surnamed Sun, had confiscated the phone after the student, Lei, was caught using it in class on Friday. But the phone was returned to Lei's parents after they went down to the school that same day.

The next morning, Lei made a complaint to the vice-principal of the school, but was told to calm down.

According to various media reports, about three hours later at 11.26am, Lei then took a knife to Sun's office, where Sun was preparing the day's lessons.

Sun's throat was slit in the attack, leaving a bloody scene in the staff room. Another teacher who was in the office did not see the attack unfold, but dialed for help after hearing Sun scream, China Smack reported. By the time paramedics arrived, Sun was declared dead.

Lei, who had fled the scene after the attack, turned himself in to Shanghai police on Monday, Shenzhen Daily reported. He is believed to be under 18 years of age.
