The incident where a bakery's employee was seen pouring Yeo's soya milk into smaller bottles, passing it off as its own "freshly prepared" product, is a breach of trust for customers ("Soya milk sold at BreadTalk is from Yeo's"; Aug 5).
In cases where company practices don't sit quite right, do staff not report the matter out of loyalty to the company or fear of being disciplined by the management? If it is the latter, then we should have a law to protect whistleblowers.
Maybe we should have a hotline for people to report such incidents. An incentive or reward could be given for these reports. We should let employees know that sometimes, social responsibility is more important than company loyalty.
