Encourage primary schools to 'adopt' nearby pre-schools

One of the criteria under the Singapore Pre-school Accreditation Framework is for pre-schools to work with primary schools to familiarise teachers and parents with primary school education ("A brighter Spark for parents", Sept 21).

This can be in the form of talks on primary school education or visits to primary schools.

Sadly, not all primary schools are forthcoming in collaborating with pre-schools, perhaps because of their teachers' heavy workload.

Can the Ministry of Education encourage primary schools to "adopt" nearby pre-schools, to help ensure a smooth transition for children from pre-school to formal education, even before any formal enrolment?

I hope primary schools will regard such collaborations not as an inconvenience but as education in its own right.
