MediShield Life deductible too high

MediShield Life deductible too high

I understand that the deductible for MediShield Life will be left intact at between $1,500 and $3,000 ("MediShield Life to offer much better benefits for all"; June 6).

The deductible of $1,500 for C-class wards is too high.

If a patient's hospital bill is $3,000, he needs to pay the deductible of $1,500 and a co-payment of $300 - 20 per cent of $1,500 (claimable amount above the deductible). Paying $1,800 is challenging for low-income families.

I hope the Government can look into lowering the deductible for C-class wards to, say, $750. This would help to relieve the financial burden on these families.
