Reporting calls from 'unknown' numbers

Recently, I received calls from telemarketers claiming to represent an electronics company. The numbers were private numbers, and some were displayed as "unknown".

I have never been this firm's customer and I wonder how it got hold of my mobile phone number, especially after the Do-Not-Call Registry came into effect.

What recourse do I have? Will the authorities track the numbers if I report the calls?
