Take tough stand against cycling offences

SINGAPORE- It is sad that despite so many warnings and raising of public awareness by the police, many cyclists here continue to ride recklessly.

Instead of dismounting when making use of pedestrian crossings, many cyclists zoom across. Other common offences include cycling against the traffic flow, not stopping at red lights, weaving in and out of heavy traffic, and riding without lights at night.

The authorities should take a tough stand against such offences, as more people take to cycling.

I am quite sure there will be more injuries and fatalities before the year is up if the current behaviour of cyclists is allowed to continue.
