Famed for its fantastical dress codes, the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute Gala 2014 (or what most refer to as the Met Gala or Met Ball) did a huge about turn from last year's punk theme.
In honour of American couturier Charles James, the theme this year was simply "white tie"; with most male guests decked in the pre-requisite bowtie, wing collar shirt, waistcoat and tailcoat.
The women on the other hand, stunned in creative takes on the ball gown standard. Pop diva Beyoncé for instance, wore a Givenchy dress with a sheer skirt and matching veil; a look that only this star could pull off.
Akin to an annual prom night for the very rich and fabulously famous, this fundraiser night has however, been known to bring out the sartorially best and worst in its celebrity guests.
This year in particular, seems to stand out more for its fabulously dressed celebrity couples, who showed up as a stylish pair on the red carpet.
While some men were content to be sartorially outshone by their fairer half, others dressed to match their partner; and the most stylish ones amongst them basked in the limelight in equally snazzy outfits - here's looking at you, Andrew Garfield - that made everyone around basically stop and stare (definitely in a good way too).
Here, we look back at the red carpet style of eight celebrity couples we love at the Met Gala 2014.
