Bid for Sir Alex Ferguson's rare wines at Christie's online tomorrow

SINGAPORE - Sir Alex Ferguson, former Manchester United manager, will be auctioning rare and fine wines from his private collection at the Christie's Hong Kong sale to be held on May 24.

Rare wines such as the Domaine de la Romanée and Finest First Growth Bordeaux ranging from the 1986 to 2011 vintages will go on sale along with autographed memorabilia. The auction house said the collection has a pre-sale estimated value of £3 million (S$6.3 million).

Around 5,000 bottles of wines and signed artefacts will be featured over three auctions. The first will be held in Hong Kong on May 24, followed by London on June 5, and an online-only auction on June 9 to 23.

Mr Jean-Claude Biver, CEO of Swiss-luxury watch company Hublot, will also be auctioning off wines from his private collection during the two-day sale. His wines, including the famed 1811 and 1865 Château d'Yquem, will go under the hammer on May 25.

The wine sale is part of the Christie's Hong Kong Spring Auctions to be held on May 24 to 28 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.

The sale will also showcase a variety of exquisite art works and jewellery. Art pieces from prominent Asian contemporary artists will be represented with the Qing dynasty imperial porcelain, Chinese calligraphy and masterpieces by Wu Guanzhong, Zao Wou-ki and Adrien-Jean le Mayeur de Merpres.

Overseas buyers can participate by bidding in the auction online via www.Christies.com.
