Naomi Campbell walks in the Zenchi Spring Summer 2014 show

SINGAPORE - The Singapore Design Centre was buzzing with excitement as day one of the Digital Fashion Week 2013 kicked off. There were whispers in the air that Naomi Campbell would walk in the first show of the fashion event - Zenchi. The rumours rang true as we caught a glimpse of the lanky supermodel entering the venue and heading straight backstage.

Singaporean designer Zen Chi was not to be outdone by his superstar model. In the front row were many familiar faces like personality Sharon Au and Mediacorp actress Sora Ma, showing their support for their designer friend, wearing Zenchi creations.

In true Campbell fashion, the Spring Summer 2014 show started an hour and a half late. But the Catwalk Space fell into a hush as the floodlights were switched on and the supermodel appeared in a black sleeveless dress, opening the show - her presence leaving us in awe. Her powerful strides were confident and her swinging hips commanded attention - everyone's gaze was fixed on the model.

Guests were allowed a moment to recover from the grand entrance before the next look. Black dominated the Zenchi Spring Summer 2014 collection although the designer broke up the sombre colour palette by adding random pops of mustard, electric blue and green. Ribbon details were employed and there were a few raw hems, adding a casual touch to his usual polished edge.

Zen Chi's mastery of draping was evident in all the looks. The waist was mainly cinched in although there were two dresses (black of course) that were left loose to flow down the body. Zen Chi also experimented with menswear-inspired looks - there were a few pairs of slim tailored trousers paired with loafers. These looks, however, didn't lose their femininity, thanks to slinky strapped tops that bared some skin.

We were a little confused as the last few looks appeared to be repeats of previously shown looks but all was forgotten when Naomi once again sashayed onto the runway in a one-shouldered yellow, draped mini dress. On her way back, she stopped in the middle to do a twirl, allowing the cameras to catch her clearly, one more time.

Moments later, the superstar led out the pack of models for the final walk but they paled into the background as Naomi's signature power walk stole the limelight.

here was no question about it - the show belonged to Naomi Campbell; she owned it.
