MALAYSIA - It was reported in Berita Harian that several local drama actresses had lodged police reports recently after claiming to being cheated of thousands of ringgit in a holiday package scam carried out by a fellow actress' personal assistant.

Rita Rudaini Mohktar claimed that she had paid almost RM3,000 (S$1,200) to the woman to go on a holiday to Hong Kong with several other artistes such as Linda Hashim, Beego, Intan and Kamal Adil, and fans.

She said the group was supposed to go on their holiday before Ramadan last year but the woman had been giving numerous excuses for repeated postponements.

"I felt uneasy as I had highlighted the holiday package to interested fans (via Instragram) who had made payments (for the trip)," she said, adding that checks later revealed that no plans had been made by the woman for their flight bookings.

Rita, who managed to get a RM2,000 refund from the woman, also claimed that local actress Julia Zeigler was also duped by the same woman to invest RM9,000 in a fictitious company.

Rita added that she and Julia lodged a police report in Gombak recently against the woman when they discovered she was trying to dupe actor Shah Iskandar RM60,000 for a holiday in Phuket, Thailand.
