Bodies of Laos crash victims identified

PETALING JAYA - The brother of Angelin Teh has confirmed that two bodies recovered from the Mekong River wreckage belong to the Malaysian air crash victim and her husband Joel Babcock, a United States citizen.

"The body recovered by the Laotian authorities has been confirmed to be Miss Angelin Teh by her brother (Adrian Teh) who flew in from Malaysia," said Mohd Zakhir Haji Yusof, counsellor and head of chancery of the Malaysian Embassy in Laos. Babcock's body was also identified by Teh's brother.

According to Zakhir, the family has requested for details of funeral rites and repatriation of the remains to be kept private.

On Wednesday, The ATR-72 turboprop Lao Airlines plane, which the couple were travelling in, ran into bad weather and crashed into the Mekong River about 8km from Pakse Airport in Champasek province.
