Emperor package: Azran launching AirAsia X's Xian promotional fares with 'terracotta warriors'.

PETALING JAYA - Travellers who want to visit Xian in China can now enjoy promotional fares as low as RM199 one way for economy class offered by AirAsia X.

Business class travellers can enjoy fares from just RM699 one way to Xian. AirAsia X made its inaugural flight to the city on Wednesday.

The promotional fares are available for online bookings until July 13 for immediate travel between now and March 31 next year.

Xian is AirAsia X's fifth destination in China after Hangzhou, Chengdu, Beijing and Shanghai.

The airline will commence four weekly flights to Xian from Kuala Lumpur, making it the only airline servicing direct flights between the two cities.

AirAsia X's maiden flight to Xian from Kuala Lumpur touched down at Xianyang International Airport at 11.20pm on Wednesday with 260 passengers.

AirAsia X chief executive officer Azran Osman Rani said adding Xian to its growing network in China was a testament of the airline's commitment in its growth strategies in the Asia-Pacific region and would further expand the airline's reach in North Asia.

He said passengers could now discover more "exotic and exciting" places in China.

"Similarly, guests from Xian and its surrounding region may tap into our strong group network to discover South-East Asia and beyond," said Azran.

Xian is known for its cultural and historical offerings such as being the starting point of the Silk Road and home to the terracotta warriors of China's first emperor, Shi Huang Di.
