French tourist Julie Galuchot, 32, and local diving instructor Sofi Hidayat, 36, were found alive in Nusa Penida, Bali, on Thursday morning after drifting in the sea for almost 24 hours.
According to West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) operational division head Nanang Sigit, Galuchot had been taking part in a diving program under the supervision of Sofi in Gili Trawangan in Lombok on Wednesday.
The program started at around 11 a.m., but as of 2 p.m., both Galuchot and Sofi had yet to return. Basarnas deployed 45 personnel to search for them, but to not avail. "Fishermen found them in Nusa Penida, Bali, [located roughly east of Gili Trawangan] on Thursday morning," Nanang said, adding that Galuchot and Sofi had sustained minor injuries.
