Groom drowns in Maldives

PETALING JAYA - A couple's honeymoon in the Maldives turned tragic when the groom, believed to have suffered a heart attack, drowned while scuba diving.

Lim Choon Keat, 28, had celebrated his birthday a day before he and his 27-year-old wife joined a diving activity at around 2.30pm (Malaysian time) on Oct 24.

Though he was only diving in shallow waters, Lim reportedly went into cardiac arrest and drowned.

Rescuers dragged out his body from the waters and administered cardiopulmonary resuscitation but failed to revive him.

His body was brought back to Malaysia yesterday where a post-mortem was performed at Kuala Lumpur Hospital.
