More than 17 acts at Sentosa Buskers Festival this year

SINGAPORE - The Sentosa Buskers Festival is back for the fourth year running. The festival kicked off its first show on Saturday with more than 17 busking acts from Singapore and around the world.

For nine days, visitors will be entertained by a variety of performances on the island, ranging from good traditional juggling acts to 'high-tech robot busking'.

The youngest buskers this year are Shannon Boesch, a 10-year-old girl and her 12-year-old brother, Christian Boesch, who will perform their duet, entitled ‘Way Past Curfew’.

For the first time in the festival's history, buskers will be allowed to collect tips from the audience. "Such spontaneous tipping would enable our guests to show their support and appreciation of the performances,” said Regina Chia, Senior Manager, Entertainment and Programming, Sentosa Leisure Management.

Highlights of the festival, which stretches from the Merlion Plaza to Siloso Beach, also include a food street and beer garden.

Guests can also get their hands on some quirky handicraft made by specialist craft artists at an art and design flea market.

For busker wannabes who yearn to try out circus acts, this year’s Sentosa Buskers Festival will showcase an interactive corner run by local circus school, Circus in Motion, to impart some tips and skills to aspiring entertainers.

The festival is open to the public from September 7 to 15 , 4.30pm to 10.30pm daily. All performances will be staged along Merlion Plaza to Siloso Beach. No event admission fee is required, but usual island admission and carpark charges will apply.
