Hong Kong Disneyland is geared up for endless fun at its seven themed lands until Jan 5, 2014.
Its Entertainment & Costuming Resort creative director Denny Newell says Hong Kong Disneyland has completed the last phase of expansion. Three newest "lands" are Toy Story Land, Grizzly Gulch and Mystic Point.
"Visitors can immerse themselves in the Let's Tell A Toy Story adventures at Toy Story Land by volunteering to help tell the stories of Woody, Jessie and Buzz Lightyear with fun props," he says.
"At Grizzly Gulch they can listen to the heartwarming story of The Winter Wish - a hand puppet show put on by visitors from the Wild West.
"At Mystic Point, Adventures With Lord Henry - a shadow puppet show performed by an East Asian puppetry troupe is also fascinating. Each show is created specially for Hong Kong Disneyland. For instance, Adventures With Henry and A Winter Wish feature characters is exclusive to the resort."
Denny adds that the holiday season is all about magic, wonder and imagination, so he and his team feel that the creative world of puppet theatre embodies these very attributes.
"I think you'll find that imagination is the theme that links all our shows. When we decided to create Puppetry In The Park and utilise three diverse styles of puppetry, we knew we would need to partner with some experts in the field," he says.
"So we called upon Luk Feng Shadow Puppet Troupe from China to help with Mystic Point, and Fantasy Puppet Theatre for A Winter Wish in Grizzly Gulch. For Toy Story Land, we drew from the Pixar movies and had a lot of fun creating unique stories using the toys from Andy's room."
