Run a marathon, take in the sights

Edward Kim, 49, is an avid runner, so much so that he even travels overseas for races.

His favourite event so far?

The Chuncheon International Marathon, which he has run three times, the last time in 2010.

"I've participated in marathons in Singapore and Los Angeles, but running in Chuncheon was the best experience I've had so far," he told My Paper.

He praised the "breathtaking scenery" of the marathon's waterfront course and hospitality of Chuncheon's residents.

"In autumn, the course is really beautiful with the trees' leaves changing colour. Also, the city's residents are really supportive and the whole marathon is like a festival," he added.

With a Dynasty Travel tour, you too can take part in the Chosunilbo Chuncheon Marathon on Oct 26.

Targeted at serious runners, the event offers two categories - 42km and 10km.

Beyond the marathon, the itinerary for the tour includes visits to Seoul's famous Myeongdong and Sinchon shopping areas, as well as a skin-care course.

For history buffs, there is a trip to Gyeongbukgong Palace, which was the first royal palace built in 1395 by the Joseon Dynasty. Prices for the tour packages start from $1,238 a person.

There will be a waiver of the marathon's registration fee.

In addition, a gala dinner is included in the tour package.

The winner of the lucky draw conducted during the dinner will receive Asiana Airlines tickets to any Asiana Airlines flight destination.
