SINGAPORE - A Singapore Airlines plane carrying Manpower Minister Tan Chuan-Jin encountered heavy rain and veered off the runway on landing at Yangon on Wednesday.
A SIA spokesperson said in a statement to AsiaOne that SQ998, an Airbus A330, was later steered safely back to the runway.
"The aircraft was towed to the gate and customers disembarked normally."
A replacement aircraft was later sent to Yangon to operate the return flight SQ997 from Yangon to Singapore.
Mr Tan said on his Facebook page that the flight landing "was the hardest landing I've ever experienced".
"The SIA Crew was very professional and reassuring despite the situation."
