Stamford Raffles statue undergoes cleaning

SINGAPORE – The Sir Stamford Raffles statue, along with the sculptures of the People of the River (POTR) series, will undergo regular cleaning from August 6 to 7, 2014.

Sculptures from the POTR series, located along the Singapore River promenade, include The River Merchants, A Great Emporium, From Chettiars to Financiers and The First Generation.

During these two days, the Sir Stamford Raffles at the Raffles Landing Site along the Singapore River will be barricaded and will not be available for photo-taking opportunities.

"We seek the public's understanding as the works and barricades may cause some inconvenience during this period," the Singapore Tourism Board said in a statement.
