Top 10 hotels for service in Singapore

Forest by Wangz and Conrad Centennial Singapore are top in a list of 10 hotels in Singapore which offer exceptional service, according to travel site TripAdvisor's Travellers' Choice awards.

Forest by Wangz was crowned the best hotel for service in Singapore, while Conrad Centennial Singapore was placed second. Raffles Hotel Singapore took the third position, with The Quincy Hotel by Far East Hospitality coming in fourth.

Mr Arthur Kiong, chief executive officer of Far East Hospitality, said winning the award was affirmation for the hotel from "savvy travellers around the world". The honour also vindicates The Quincy's desire to create a brand "that caters to customers who appreciate a clever mix of style, convenience and value".

The Travellers' Choice Exceptional Service award winners were determined based on the millions of reviews and opinions of TripAdvisor travellers worldwide, taking into account the quality of reviews and ratings for service.

The awards honoured 1,762 properties in 98 regions and countries across the globe.

In Asia, 11 properties in Vietnam were featured among the top 25 Asia Travellers' Choice Exceptional Service award-winners, nine of which are located in Hanoi.

Indonesia is the next country which bagged the most number of awards with seven properties in the Asia list, out of which six are located in Bali.

TripAdvisor's chief marketing officer Barbara Messing said: "Travellers have millions of hotels to choose from, and service is one way to stand out in the crowd. It's clear in reading our hotel reviews that when you have a happy customer, they spread the word."

According to a TripAdvisor survey of almost 1,000 respondents from Southeast Asia, 75 per cent of travellers felt that good service is very important when staying at a hotel.

78 per cent of travellers also indicated that they will return to a hotel that has provided them with exceptional and memorable service, while 88 per cent said they would pay more to stay at a hotel with great service.

The survey was conducted in May last year with 986 travellers from Southeast Asia, including 425 from Singapore.

The average nightly rate at hotels in Asia which earned the Travellers' Choice Exceptional Service award is $206.17, while in Singapore, the average nightly rate is $524.80.
