Tourist drowns at Sabah island

KOTA KINABALU - A tourist from China died while snorkeling at Sapi Island, about a 15-minute boat ride from the city.

Vu Shun Ru, 35, who arrived from Shanghai on Thursday, had gone to the island the next day.

While there, his family members saw him struggling in the water and sought help from swimmers.

Vu was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital but was pronounced dead at about 10am.
