TransAsia Airways plans to establish a budget carrier in Taiwan within the next year to capitalise on rising regional travel demand and compete with 12 other existing low-cost carriers.
The new budget airline will target destinations within a fivehour flying range of Taiwan, and utilise Airbus SAS' 320 and 321 series aircraft as its primary fleet.
A month-long campaign has been launched to invite the public to name the new carrier. The winner will receive unlimited free TransAsia flights over the next 10 years.
