SINGAPORE - Travel agency Journey of Dream Pte Ltd (JOD) (travel agent licence number 02388) has been suspended, according to a statement from the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) on Thursday.
The suspension is in effect from April 22, 2014 until further notice.
According to the statement, STB received a total of 14 complaints against JOD on its unprofessional conduct and non-delivery of travel services between October 2013 and April 2014 .
During the period of suspension, JOD is required to fulfil its existing obligations to its customers. However, they are not allowed to accept new travel bookings.
The STB said it adopts a serious view against errant travel agents and will not hesitate to take necessary actions to protect consumers' interests and safeguard the reputation of Singapore's tourism sector.
The public is advised to exercise due diligence when making arrangements for their travel: consumers are encouraged to read and clarify terms and conditions when making travel bookings, pay by instalments especially when travel dates are far in advance, as well as purchase travel insurance upon making payments.
