Unknown secrets behind the five great wonders of the world

Unknown secrets behind the five great wonders of the world

Have you ever wondered what kind of secrets lay upon the marble floors of the Taj Mahal or within the majestic Walls of China? These iconic structures, while widely recognised and depicted countless times in films and television shows, hide many little-known facts and intimate stories, according to Singapore-based travel portal TripZilla.

For example, did you know that the four minarets of the Taj Mahal were deliberately constructed to tilt slightly outwards from the platform? This is to make the Taj Mahal appear perfectly straight from the ground. Also, Mughal ruler Shah Jahan, who ordered the Taj Mahal's construction, had the hands of the iconic dome's creators chopped off to prevent them from creating anything so beautiful ever again.

Or did you know that the Eiffel Tower was considered to be an eyesore when it was built in 1889, and was almost destroyed in 1909? The tower was originally intended to stand for only 20 years - it was eventually saved because it played an important role in capturing the infamous spy Mata Hari during the First World War.
