Xpress Air's new route a welcome addition

KULAIJAYA - The addition of Xpress Air's Johor Baru-Pontianak flight route has helped enhance tourists' travels between Malaysia and Indonesia.

Johor tourism committee chairman Datuk Tee Siew Kiong said travellers from Pontianak could now visit tourist destinations such as Legoland Malaysia and the Johor Premium Outlet without the need to transit from Kuching Airport.

"Xpress Air started its services in Kuching, Sarawak," he said after Xpress Air's inaugural landing at the Senai International Airport here on Saturday. "I am glad that the airline decided to choose Johor as its second destination."

Tee said the new route, with a frequency of three times a week, would boost tourits' arrivals, especially during this Visit Malaysia Year of 2014.

Xpress Air president Henny Kurniawan and Indonesian consul-general Taufiqur Rijal were among the 128 passengers on board the inaugural flight.
