Heavy rain causes flash floods in several parts of S'pore

Heavy downpour in several parts of Singapore today (Oct 20) has caused flash floods in areas like MacPherson, Paya Lebar and Ubi.

Stomp contributors Muhammad Syahren, Yee Ching, Shafie, Roar, Alfred, Parvyn and Lerissa have sent in photos and reports of the areas that are affected.

Reader Alfred, who spotted members of the public waiting for public buses while standing on benches, said: "I spotted this new way of waiting for buses at Ubi.

"This was at an area near construction works for the new train line.

"The canal is already considered pretty huge but yet it could not withstand the heavy downpour."

Another reader, Muhammad Syahren, noticed the Certis Cisco building at Paya Lebar being flooded at 6.10pm today.

He said: "One of my colleagues told me that the road (Jalan Afifi) and our Certis Cisco building was flooded due to the heavy downpour.

"I managed to take a few photos of the areas affected."

Ankle-deep waters were also reportedly seen in an open carpark area in Ubi. Reader Shafie said: "I was on my way home when I saw an open-air carpark at Ubi flooded with water.

"If the rain continues, the water will definitely seep into those cars."
